This project seeks to capture the essence of salt by imagining it personified. Most of the images are paired with acrostics that derive from words that may be associated with salt in some way. The body of the acrostics are the way I envision Salt's stream of consciousness. The images are my interpretation of how salt is naturally expressed in a human body (represented by sweat and tears), as well as the process of Salt as a human body dissolving or becoming undone.

The substance has the power to harm or even kill if too much or too little is present, and also the power heal, sustain, preserve at the adequate amount. It overwhelms in excess and underwhelms in absence. Salt is arguably the crux of all flavor and taste, the deal breaker of something being appropriately seasoned. It is also imperative to some spiritual practices, thought to cleanse and to provide protection when used the correct way. I imagined someone, Salt, navigating this limited range of motion. Leaning too far in any direction would mean the destruction of something or someone. Inspired by its extreme duality, this is Salt's existential crisis.
